Dan Harrington and Erik Seidel, newest members of the Poker Hall of Fame
The biggest live event of the year started at 8 p.m. PT. Before the actual heads-up, the audience could witness the enshrinement of Erik Seidel And Dan Harrington into the Poker Hall of Fame. Frank Kassela also received his '2010 WSOP Player of The Year' title.
Jonathan Duhamel is the first Canadian player to ever win the world championship. His road to the victory was not short and easy at all, he had to fight his way through the 7,319 players who entered the contest this year. He managed to play well throughout the game and make it to the final table, which he won eventually.
Just before the final heads-up...
At the final heads-up, he started with a massive lead against Racener, who only had around 30 million chips compared to Duhamel's 189 million.
Interesting action started at the 41th blind level(200.000/800.000/1.600.000), where Racener could rob some of Duhamel's chips. Duhamel raised all-in with K-4, which Racener had beat with his Q-Q on a dry board. He doubled up to 36,900,000. Despite this and some other hands where Racener could outplay his opponent, all went according to expectations: Duhamel dominated the game, he was very aggressive preflop, and often went all-in. After a short break, the game was soon over: Duhamel was almost all the time all-in, Racener kept folding until he eventually called with K-8 suited: Duhamel showed A-J offsuit. The board came 4-4-9-6-5, which helped none of them, Jonathan Duhamel has won his first WSOP bracelet with A high.
Jonathan Duhamel with his friends
He received his 2010 WSOP Main Event bracelet from last year's champion, Joe Cada. A few minutes after the game he couln't really give interviews due to the shock from what has taken place a few minutes before:
"Thank you to everybody for being here, it's a dream come true," Duhamel said. "I don't know what to think, I don't know what to say,".
We congratulate the winner and hope that his poker career will go even further from now on.
