The PCA has barely ended, the Aussie Millions have barely started, and the next stop of the 7th season of the EPT already gives home to the fierce Main Event battle, running between the 25th and 31st January. The Casino Barriere Deauville provides a perfect venue for the event.
The French tourney has already made it four times into the program of the most prestigous European poker series: 2005 saw the American Brandon Schaefer win the main prize, the 2006 winner was Swedish Mats Iremark, Moritz Kranich won in 2009 and the British super-talent, Jake 'neverbluff67' Cody took the main prize in 2010. The number of players taking part is constantly growing, having hit 768 last year. The organizers expect even more players this year.
One thing is for sure: we will not be left without big names. Some of the players definitely competing are: Jonathan Duhamel (world champion), Daniel Negreanu, Vanessa Rousso, Theo Jorgensen, Vicky Coren, John Duthie, Marcin Horecki, Viktor 'isildur1' Blom, Bertrand 'Elky' Grospellier, Jakob 'mendieta19' Carlsson, Kristoffer 'Sumpas' Thorsson and Arnaud Mattern.
The tourney will use the usual blind structure: the players start with 30,000 chips with the blinds starting from 50/100 and risin every 60 (later, 75) minutes. Antes appear at the fifth level.
We will keep you updated on the progress of the Main Event!
