WSOPE Event #4 - Tristan Wade Wins, ElkY 5th

The WSOPE Event #4, the<em> &euro;3,200 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout </em>has ended with the victory of the young American pro <strong>Tristan Wade</strong>. The French <strong>Bertrand<em> 'ElkY' </em>Grospellier </strong>came in 5th.

The 10-handed final table kicked off yesterday on the 3rd day of the tournament. The table proved to be very tough, the chips were rather evenly distributed amongst the players, anything could happen.

tournament supervisor ruled that the game continues from the 500/1.500/3.000 blind level, so players were around 75-80 BB deep.

There wasn't much action in the first part of the game, only John Armbrust got rid of his stack quite quickly. He started the 2nd blind level (500/2.000/4.000) with only 40,000. It's not surprising he came to be eliminated first; he was defeated by Taylor Paur's flush.

Richard Toth, Hungarian PokerStars Pro took a big pot soon. He opened to 9,000 from MP, when Emil Patel 3bet to 23,500. Toth called. They both checked the {#}7 {#}2 {#}4 flop. The turn came {#}3 . Toth bet 36,000, Patel called. On the {#}K river the PokerStars pro pushed 53,000 in; Patel asked him how much he has left. It was around 78,000. Patel called, and mucked when saw Toth's {#}7 {#}7 set.

Soon Patel doubled up on Dempsey, but Dempsey managed to double up on Toth in the next hand with pocket nines. However, he was the next to leave the table. Michael Watson raised to 14,000 (3rd blind level, 1.000/3.000/6.000), ElkY called, Dempsey went 3bet all-in. Only ElkY called.

ElkY won with bigger pair, becoming the chipleader with this win.

By the time, the game heated up. ElkY wasn't happy for too long, he paid Watson's full house with a drill, which got him back to being shortstacked.

On the 4th blind level (1.000/4.000/8.000) the table even got tougher; the shortstack Taylor Paur also left the table as he was beaten by Max Silver's pocket aces. A few minutes later Richard Toth eliminated Patel top pair top kicker. 6 of them remained.

The next eliminated came to be Steve O'Dwyer, who, after losing a major pot, went all-in with {#}K {#}J from UTG. Wade called with {#}A {#}J , the neutral board meant the end of O'Dwyer's tournament.

On the 5th blind level (2.000/6.000/12.000) ElkY and Watson faced each other, pre-flop all-in.

Watson won with a set, ElkY was out in 5th place.

In the next hand Silver opened to 25,000 from UTG, the BB Wade 3bet 68,000, Silver went 4bet all-in with 420,000, Wade called.

Wade's kings held, Silver was out.

Toth Richard came next, he was beaten by Watson's straight. The PokerStars pro cashed €84,016.

Wade started out as the underdog, but it didn't bother him, he soon managed to take over Watson. In the final hand, Watson raised to 60,000, Wade 3bet to 144,000. Watson moved all-in, Wade called.
