2009 Aussie Millions High Roller champion David Steicke was the first to hit the rail, running into Patrick Healy’s aces with pocket kings and the board being unhelpful. Ivey, on the other hand, started out excellently, taking a major pot with mucked hands from Tim O’Shea to increase his stack to 1,690,000.

The field was quick to diminish; only 16 players were left by the 20th blind level (2,000/8,000/10,000). 2006 Aussie Millions winner Nelson had the lead at this point, who managed to take several pots from Ivey as well, mostly with mucked hands. He was not the only one to shorten the US pro’s stack; Ivey soon lost a major pot to Healy, raising to 200,000 on the latter’s 50,000 bet on the J 4 2 K board. Healy re-raised to 350,000 after tanking a while and Ivey called. The river was 2 , Healy checked after taking his time playing with his chips and Ivey checked behind. Healy showed 4 5 and was shocked to see Ivey mucking his hand.
A couple of hands later, Australian favourite APPT and ANZPT champion Grant Levy got eliminated. The pro shoved his remaining 304,000 preflop, Janis Lesinskis re-raised all-in, the others folded. Levy had pocket sixes while Lesinskis showed A Q and won the flip, rivering an ace. The last to hit the rail on Day 4 was Danny Chevalier, 12 players were left.
