With re-entries, a total of 32 players started Day 2 of the EPT Grand Final €100,000 Super High Roller event, having Jason Mercier in the chiplead with 1,183,000 in chips. Many of the most notable names in the poker industry showed up for the event, including Erik Seidel, Antonio Esfandiari, Scott Seiver, Andrew Lichtenberger, Isaac Haxton, Marvin Rettenmaier, Dan Smith, Philipp Gruissem, Sam Trickett, Patrik Antonius, Daniel Negreanu, Faraz Jaka or Viktor Blom, just to name a handful of them.

First out was Igor Kurganov, who shoved with only 90,000 in chips on Level 9 (1,000/3,000/6,000) with pocket fives and got called by Niklas Heinecker, who held queens and the board came neutral. A couple of minutes later, the German also busted Mikhail Smirnov, who was followed by Smith and Rettenmaier on the same level.

Level 10 (1,000/4,000/8,000) saw the elimination of Jaka, Tony Gregg, Tobias Reinkemeier, Haxton, Antonius, Lichtenberger, Blom and Justin Bonomo – and we were still only about 3 hours into the game.

Another four hours later, it was down to the final ten. On Level 14 (3,000/10,000/20,000), Vladimir Troyanovsky 3-bet from the SB and Phil Ivey, who re-entered the tournament two times for a total of three bullets, 4-bet all-in with 524,000 in chips. Troyanovsky folded but Mercier called.

On Level 16 (5,000/15,000/30,000), Mercier eliminated Fabian Quoss in 10th place: Quoss opened to 60,000 from UTG, Mercier 3-bet to 133,000 from the SB and Quoss called. The flop came {#}2 {#}8 {#}Q , Mercier bet 93,000 and then called Quoss’ all-in of 494,000.
