Andy Frankenberger Wins WPT Legends of Poker

462 players attended the WPT Legends of Poker Main Event, making the prize pool $2,151,072. The buy-in for the event was $4800+$200, and many famous poker players enrolled in the battle for the first place prize.

The most well-known poker players fighting for the title included Barry Greenstein, Maria Ho, Tim Phan, Jerry Yang, Justin "BoostedJ" Smith, Jonathan Aguiar, Jason DeWitt, Lauren Kling, Allen Kessler, Joe Sebok, Tom Marchese, JC Alvarado, Steve Gross, David Oppenheim, Eric Lindgren, Chad Brown, Steven Burkholder, Scott Clements, Zachary Clark and Jonathan Little.

Despite the many-many poker stars taking part, the fourth day started with no real poker celebrity still playing. The most famous player probably was Jonathan Little, preparing to win his third WPT title. He had all chances for that, as he started day 4 at the second place with 1,314,000 chips, only Andy Frankenberger ahead with 1,958,000.

Little failed to make it to the final table in the end, losing his chips against Frankenberger. Andrew Frankenberger, the former broker took hold of a huge advantage with this hand.

The chip counts at the start of the six-handed final table were as follows:

Chair 1. Jared Jaffee – 1,006,000 (41 bb)
Chair 2. Kyle Wilson – 2,854,000 (118 bb)
Chair 3. Tom Lee – 2,915,000 (121 bb)
Chair 4. Franco Brunetti – 800,000 (33 bb)
Chair 5. Andy Frankenberger – 3,015,000 (125 bb)
Chair 6. Tom Braband – 968,000 (40 bb)

First to get busted was shortstack Franco Brunetti, going all-in to Wilson’s raise with {#}K {#}3 preflop. He got called by Wilson, who showed {#}8 {#}6 and received a {#}6 on the flop, which proved to be enough to beat Brunetti.

Jared Jaffee was the next one to leave, shortly followed by  Tom ’TitanTom32’ Braband, losing his stack in a coinflip against Kyle Wilson.

Tom Lee – 5,175,000
Kyle Wilson – 3,870,000
Andy Frankenberger – 2,515,000

After more than three and a half hours of 3-handed gameplay, Lee lost an all-in with two pairs against Frankenberger’s flush, and heads-up started.

Andy Frankenberger – 8,960,000
Kyle Wilson – 2,600,000

The heads-up went on for 45 minutes, when Wilson went all-in preflop holding {#}A {#}3 and got called by Frankenberger with {#}A {#}9, and the {#}9 on the flop won him a WPT title and $750,000.
