Everest Poker’s Big Four - analysis of different country races

The four rake races organized this February by Everest Poker will be divided between countries. Players from Germany (together with players from Austria and Switzerland), Hungary, Poland and Spain will all have the chance to compete against their fellow countrymen for big money guaranteed.

Everest Poker has decided to reward players from these countries with different rake races and different levels of rewards. Here, at Rakerace.com, we will be looking at these differences and analysing and comparing all four country races to see how a player would perform within each of the countries.

Having a look at this will give us an indication of how the players of each country play poker and the effort required to win within that country.

To begin with, we must look at the countries and the prizes Everest Poker has up for grabs.

1.    Germany, Austria, Switzerland: $30,000 Cash Race with 150 winners (1608 participants so far)
2.    Hungary: $7000 Summit Point Race with 50 winners (1189 participants so far)
3.    Poland: $7000 Summit Point Race with 50 winners (296 participants so far)
4.    Spain:  $7000 Summit Point Race with 50 winners (427 participants so far)

The following is a percentage of people who participate in the Everest races, compared to the total population of their countries. The calculations are as follows:

Germany (Austria, Switzerland) has a combined population of 97,839,800 and had 1608 participants at the time of our calculations. This shows us, that 0.00164% of the total population is taking part in this event.

Hungary has a population of 10,013,628 and had 1189 participants at the time of our calculations.
This means, that 0.0118% of the population is taking part in this event.

Poland has a population of 38,100,700 and had 296 participants at the time of our calculations.
This means, that  0.000776 % of the population is taking part in this event.

Spain has a population of  45,989,016 and had 427 participants at the time of our calculations.
This means, that 0.000928% of the population is taking part in this event.

From the data collected, we can see that compared to the population, Hungary had the most participants at Everest Poker, relatively ten times more than the German/Austrian/Swiss countries.

Next, we must look at the strength of the players within the countries.
 
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL OUR CALCULATIONS ARE ROUGH ESTIMATES AND PRESUME CONTINUOUS PERFORMANCE DURING THE WHOLE MONTH, OTHERWISE, RESULTS WILL DIFFER.

To examine this, we calculated the total amount of points the top 50 players had accumulated within each country (as of 8 February). Here are the results:

Summit Points (SP) accumulated by the top 50

Germany/Austria/Switzerland : a total of 557386.73 SP
Hungary: a total of 160824.33 SP
Spain: a total of 213981.40 SP
Poland: a total 133329.04 SP


From the data collected, we can see that Germany/Austria/Switzerland are leading the way with more than twice the amount of points than any other country. But it is important to note, that this is a combination of three countries, also with a bigger prize pool and more players.

Let’s now look at how strong these players really are:

If we count the amount of points collected by the top 50 and divide it by 50, we will see an average Point/Player rate within the top 50 in the 8 day period.

Germany/Austria/Switzerland : 11147.72 average SP/Player
Hungary: 3216.48 average SP/Player
Spain: 4279.62 average SP/Player
Poland: 2666.58 average SP/Player

The very top players of the leaderboards usually seem to have a much greater amount of Points accumulated, as compared to the rest of the competition, which seems to be very close together. This means, that by reaching the average amount of Summit Points stated above, a player will usually make it to the top 15.  

Because these results were accumulated over an 8-day period, we need to divide the totals by 8 to get the daily Summit Points needed to make the top 50.

Germany/Austria/Switzerland : around 1393.75 SP per day
Hungary: around 402.06 SP per day
Spain: around 534.87 SP per day
Poland: around 333.25 SP per day

As we can see from the data above, Poland would be the best bet for all players, as the average amount of Summit Points needed to make the leaderboard are by far the lowest.

If we presume the race has ended today, we can compare the competition within each country.  We will look at the top ten places for each individual country.
