Player of the Year 2024: David Coleman

David Coleman has been crowned the 2024 Global Poker Index (GPI) Player of the Year, narrowly surpassing Jesse Lonis in a fiercely contested race. Coleman accumulated 4,383.70 points across his top 13 qualifying results, edging out Lonis by just 9.32 points.
Throughout 2024, Coleman demonstrated exceptional skill and consistency on the poker circuit. His year-end surge included six in-the-money finishes in December, notably a third-place finish at the Seminole Hard Rock Rock ‘n’ Roll Poker Open $5,000 No Limit Hold ’em - Deep Stack 8-Handed event, earning $100,000, and a sixth-place finish at the WSOP Paradise $100,000 Triton Main Event, securing $890,000.

In the GPI Female Player of the Year category, Cherish Andrews reclaimed the title, amassing 3,115.65 points and finishing just under 100 points ahead of four-time winner Kristen Foxen. This marks Andrews’ second time receiving this honour, having previously won in 2022.
Han Feng emerged as the GPI Mid-Major Player of the Year, accumulating 3,014.45 points in events with buy-ins under $2,500. Feng’s impressive year included victories at the Champions Club Fall Poker Open Main Event, WSOPC Tulsa Main Event, and Moneymaker Poker Tour Houston Main Event.

In Europe, several players achieved remarkable success, both in terms of performance and earnings. The top players of the year include:

1. Stephen Chidwick (UK) – 3,904.93 points - Approximately $8.5 million in 2024 earnings.
2. Artur Martirosyan (Russia) – 3,769.36 points
3. Ben Heath (UK) – 3,467.67 points

Stephen Chidwick, one of Europe’s most accomplished poker players, had a stellar 2024 with several notable achievements:

• WSOP Paradise $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship: Chidwick secured his second World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet by topping a 122-entry field, earning $1,357,080.

• Farid Jattin (Colombia) – Jattin continues to dominate the South American poker scene, securing Colombia's top spot for the 10th consecutive time. Jattin's most notable finish was at the 2024 WPT Voyage $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em event, where he secured 4th place, earning $100,000. His annual winnings was $629,245 in 2024.

• Diego Ventura (Peru) – Ventura has consistently showcased his skills in international tournaments, contributing to his high ranking within the continent.

• João Simão (Brazil) – A prominent figure in the Brazilian poker community, Simão's performances have earned him recognition among South America's elite players.

Jattin's most notable finish was at the 2024 WPT Voyage $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em event, where he secured 4th place, earning $100,000.

• Biao Ding (China) – Ding leads the Asian rankings with impressive performances throughout the year, accumulating 3,436.40 points. Ding's most significant achievement was winning the $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event at the 2024 Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Jeju, earning $2,870,000.

• Daniel Chi Tang (Hong Kong) – Tang holds a strong position with 3,364.69 points, reflecting his consistent success in various tournaments.
