Yesterday afternoon, durrrr and jungleman drew 1,214 hands closer to the 50,000 mark of the Challenge in two hours' time. Although Dwan closed in on Cates, reducing his deficit to $200,000, the latter eventually succeeded in maintaining his considerable lead of $0.5 million. Three pots were over $150,000 and another totalled at $210,000, which was won by Cates, eliminating most of Dwan’s advance. Cates also leads in overall number of pots won with 8,265 (58%)

According to his Twitter, some kind of internet connection malfunction contributed to Dwan’s less than lucky day: “Just had one of the most tilting hands of my life happen. Was playing JungleMan in the challenge and my internet cut out, so I checked behind the nuts in a spot where he would’ve 100% called with 2 pair for $34,683 more. So tilted.”
A total of 14,190 hands of the Challenge have been played so far. We trust that they keep up the pace and provide a good show playing the rest.
