Interestingly enough, the three rooms that experienced a decrease in their traffic all belong to PokerStars (PokerStars.com, PokerStars.it and PokerStars.fr). The ongoing online poke championship, the WCOOP might well have an effect on the cash game at PokerStars.com, as a lot of CG players are likely to choose the tournaments instead for the time being. That said, the WCOOP has not had a negative effect on cash games in the past few years and not even the WCOOP can justify the drop at PokerStars.it and PokerStars.fr.
Although PokerStars is obviously less than happy with this decrease, they are still in a thousand times better position than the US-friendly Merge network that has lost 25% of its players in a very short period of time. This can be credited to an article published at Subject: Poker that claims Merge is going to be the next target of the United States Department of Justice following Black Friday.
Merge players would not like to see their bankrolls on frozen accounts so they are now fleeing the network, cashing out. Merge is currently 12th among the global market leaders. Nevertheless, the network remains to run well on an annual level as its traffic is still 152% of that of this time last year, due to the DoJ acquisition of the accounts of the greater rooms.
The current market leaders are as follows:
1. PokerStars
2. iPoker
3. PartyPoker
4. 888 Poker
5. Ongame
6. PokerStars.it
7. PokerStars.fr
8. Winamax.fr
9. Microgaming
10. Entraction
