This event exemplifies the decline of PartyPoker. 888poker's traffic is up 9% this year, PartyPoker is down 20%.
As we reported, bwin.party's CEO Norbert Teufelberger held a press conference where he revealed a new company strategy, which is expected to save considerable amounts of money previously spent on marketing at the .COM market. Teufelberger said it is their intention to concentrate on the legalised markets, putting quality before quantity.
As a part of the new direction, bwin.party pulled out of several markets across the globe, not allowing new registrations, while current customers can continue to play unaffected. This, therefore shouldn't necessarily mean that rooms' traffic would decline to such extent, especilly not if the company concentrates on the regulated markets as planned.
PartyPoker's player pool already started to move out of the room around February, 2013, when the leadership decided to separate the losing players from the winning without prior notice.
888poker not only did surpass PartyPoker in online poker traffic, they are also in the news for banning the online data miner SharkScope from tracking its hands and players.
"888poker does not give permission for any data mining sites to access our poker room, and we actively enforce this policy. Data mining is a violation of our EULA (End User License Agreement) and copyright law,” as the official statement reads on a popular poker forum.
888poker players will not have the chance to decide whether their data will be available or not, as Sharkscope will not be allowed to offer any kind of 'opt-in’ procedure.
