While the 4,000 hands planned for August are unlikely to be played until the deadline, the two of them did eventually end up continuing the challenge on Thursday. The played 168 hands on three $200/$400 NLHE tables and ‘jungleman12’ finished up $20,215.
They had the following conversation after the session:
jungleman12: gg?
durrrr: ya
durrrr: back in few hrs
jungleman12: k
jungleman12: hopefully full tilt resolves the problem by then
durrrr: 168 hands
jungleman12: i won 20215
durrrr: u win 20265
durrrr: yaya rake
durrrr: bastards get us on the rake :(
durrrr: lol
durrrr: cya gl
jungleman12: durrrr challenge is raked?
jungleman12: whattttt
durrrr: hahaha
jungleman12: grumpy full tilt wants its couple hundred dollars
It is not entirely clear what kind of problem needs to be resolved, as spectators reported no technical difficulties. In a couple of hours, ‘durrrr’ has ineeed returned to the high stakes tables but ‘jungleman12’ was not online by then, so he picked other opponents. Dwan ended up with a total loss of $311,641 for the day.
Daniel ‘jungleman12’ Cates and Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan kicked off the second Durrrr Challenge in August, 2010. Their clash lasted 19,335 hands, in which ‘jungleman’ made $1,251,059 in profits. Apparently unable to handle the NLHE heads-up specialist in his prime, ‘durrrr’ started to postpone additional sessions in the last phase of the Challenge and chose the profitable games in Macau instead.
Following the events of 15 April, 2011, or the Black Friday of online poker, and especially the revoking of the licence of Full Tilt Poker and the consequent shutting down of the room put the Challenge on ice for the foreseeable future, even though ‘jungleman’ kept saying in interviews that he would be willing to continue either in another room or live. No more sessions were played regardless.
FTP re-launched last November but the Challenge remained paused, except for a mini session earlier this year. Now, however, the two are hopefully finally returning to the tables.
The current standings of the Durrrr Challenge 2 are as follows:
Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan v. Daniel ‘jungleman12’ Cates
In the lead: Daniel ‘jungleman12’ Cates
Profit: $1,271,032
Hands played: 19,886
Hands left: 30,114
Start: August, 2010
