According to broadcast statistics, the Heads-Up Championship has been among the most popular poker shows of all time. The NBC calling it off regardless is unquestionably the result of Black Friday, since both PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker has promoted the show and they also paid the $20,000 buy-in for their sponsored players.
Black Friday had a disastrous effect on shows the two rooms had been involved in in many ways; Poker After Dark (sponsored by FTP) and The Big Game (sponsored by PokerStars) have also been discontinued. Still, there is hope left for poker shows: ESPN signed an agreement expiring in 2017 with WSOP and the show is sponsored by Jack Link's Beef Jerky and GoDaddy.com.
