2012 kicked off with a spectacular victory from Viktor ‘Isildur1' Blom. The Swede pro won the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) $100,000 Super High Roller event, defeating Humberto Brenes, Scott Seiver, Daniel Negreanu, Jonathan Duhamel, Mike ‘Timex’ McDonald, Dan Shake and Galen Hall in the finale. This was Blom’s first live tournament victory for $1,254,400.

The live robot of online poker, Randy ‘nanonoko’ Lew played 23,493 hands in 8 hours, with a profit of $7,65, qualifying for a Guinness World Record in the “most online hand in 8 hours with a profit” category.

The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure PCA main event ended with the victory of an amateur player, John Dibella. The 43 years old broker bested his former live tournament cash record of $16,000 with a $1,775,000 first prize.

Following the PCA, the Aussie Millions started, bringing about the victory of home player Oliver Speidel in the Main Event, who won A$ 1.6 million as his greatest in his career so far.

While Daniel Negreanu was travelling home by plane, a hacker hijacked his online poker account and started playing under his screen name, generating a loss of $46,000 for the Canadian pro.

Following an illness, Nikolay Evdakov passed away in Fabruary. Evdakov gained fame in 2008 when he made it in the money in no less than 10 WSOP events, setting up a record in the history of the championship.

While making it to the final table, it was not Daniel Negreanu but Daniele Nestola, who won the PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) Grand Finale Main Event for R$289,300.
