‘Isildur1’ has announced lately in a tweet that ‘durrrr’ had accepted his challenge. As of yet, few details have surfaced regarding the latest HS challenge but it appears that both players bet $100,000 and they play No Limit Hold’em on 4 tables. Dwan plans to kick off as early as this Sunday.
Viktor 'Isildur1' Blom and Tom 'durrrr' Dwan
Neither pros are unfamiliar with challenges
Blom had previously matched Isaac Haxton, Tony G, Daniel 'jungleman12' Cates, Eugene 'MyRAbbiFoo1 Katchalov and Daniel Negreanu in the SuperStar Showdown, performing excellently. These duels ran on 4 tables and had a hand limit of 2,500 as well as a bankroll of $150,000 for each player.
Tom Dwan introduced the Durrrr Challenge, in which he clashed Patrik Antonius, followed by Daniel ‘jungleman12’ Cates. Dwan offered $1.5 million against his opponents’ $500,000 for 50,000 hands of 4 tables heads-up cash game.
Neither of these challenges were completed: it is rumoured that Antonius were back about $2 million when he agreed with Dwan to end the challenge with only 10,000 hands left. Cates proved to be a tougher nut to crack for ‘durrrr’: already before reaching the 20,000 hands mark, ‘jungleman12’ was ahead $1.2 million. This challenge was hung up by the legal issues of online poker in the US and, while Cates claimed to had tried to reconnect with Dwan, they have never finished it.
As a result, the clash of the two challenge heroes is greatly anticipated and, considering their styles, we can expect quite a number of huge pots and aggressively played hands.
