“The sale of Bet24 is in line with our focus on our core broadcasting operations. We have developed and expanded our online betting and gaming businesses over the past seven years as the industry has become more and more competitive. Unibet is one of the largest and most established players in the European market and therefore provides an attractive platform for Bet24 customers and for the further development of the business." Modern Times Group CEO Hans-Holger Albrecht said.
Bet24 has developed to be one of the leading online gambling providers in the Scandinavian region, in no small part due to their aggressive advertisement campaigns. Their pro team and PR faces include popular players and celebrities, like Jesper Hougard, SCOOP Main Event champion Thomas ‘kalle’ Pedersen, Danish national soccer team manager Morten Olsen or former Liverpool player Jan Molby.
Unibet, located in Malta, have not yet released their plans concerning the future of Bet24, although it has been confirmed that the 45 employees of the company are to move to the headquarters in Malta. In addition, it is assumed that Unibet is most likely to merge Bet24, eliminating the latter brand and moving clients to Unibet.
