Phase 1 tourneys are organized three times each day until Sunday, when Phase 2 is taking place. Phased tournaments are not multi- or re-entry ones; players who enter one of the Phase 1s are not eligible to enter another one of the same event if eliminated.
The first Phased tournament was held during the course of the last week: the $11 event guaranteed a prize pool of $5,000, which was significantly surpassed by the $39,390 amassed by the 3,939 players entering Phase 1. 1,825 of them qualified for Phase 2 with stacks collected in the first round.
PokerStars considers the launch of the new tournament type a great success: most importantly, the room has managed to have users play in the middle of the week, who otherwise would normally play on Sunday exclusively. If the Phased tournaments prove popular, more of them will be introduced later on various stakes.
