By now no player should be surprised when PokerStars announces a chance that has a negative impact on players' winrates. On March 21 they announced a rake increase for several formats in the .COM/.EU market.
The rake/fee will be increased in the following games from March 28:
- Spin&Go rake will increase 1% at the $1-$30 stakes and 2% at the $3 stake level. The rake will only remain the same in the $0,25, $60 and $100 games.
- Every rebuy and add-on in MTTs will be raked (for example if you make a rebuy in a $33 rebuy tournament, you will be charged $33 instead of the current $30)
- Hyper-turbo MTT rake increased by 5%
- Rake cap and rake percentage to increase in several no limit and pot limit ring games
According to PokerStars, this is a total rake increase of 4% and additional increases are also possible in the future.

The new rake structure/rake cap in cash games:
After making drastic cuts to their VIP system, the room has now made significant rake increases. The company loves to point out that their rake is still lower than that of some competitors, but they forget to mention the fact that achieviable returns are much lower and that the field is stronger than in smaller rooms.
The various changes in the past year and the anti-regular politics that the room has exhibited already chased away plenty of players from the room and the rake increase could push even more players to new rooms.
