It was Jason Mercier, who won the $25,000 Bounty Shootout at the very same place in 2010, besting 35 players for $475,000. This year, he only had to pay $10,000+$300 and defeat 77 fellow players to defend his title. Which he did, eventually.

10 players made it to the final table, who already won $36,000 or $40,000 each (depending on table size) for winning their table: Taylor Von Kriegenbergh, Joe Sweeney, Micah Raskin, Michael Pesek, Eugene Katchalov, Jimmie Guinther, Scott Blackman, Jonathan Jaffe and Jason Mercier.

An additional $2,000 was awarded to anyone, who eliminated a player, so Mercier already won $54,000 by the time he got to the final table. He marched to the final heads-up, where he faced the 2011 PCA Super High Roller champion, Eugene Katchalov. On the 2,000/4,000/500 blind level, the final hand came about, and it was a very interesting one. Katchalov raised to 8,000 pre-flop,  On the {#}9 {#}8 {#}7 flop, Mercier check-raised all-in.
