Two times WSOP champion David ‘The Dargon’ Pham was the first to be railed, a mere two hands into the final table. His all-in with A K was called by Erik Cajelais, who showed Q Q on the neutral board. Following the elimination of Jonathan Webber, Lunkin, Kelly, Cajelais and Jonathan Spinks, the heads-up phase came along as Badecker sent Daniel Makowsky to the rail with a flopped flush against the latter’s pocket aces.
Robbie Verspui managed to take the lead for a couple of hands in the 50 minutes long heads-up, but, in the end, Badecker regained and kept his position. In the final hand, they shoved preflop:
Badecker: K 2
Verspui: A J
Board: 7 5 2 K 5
Andrew Badecker
Badecker won the event with two pairs. The final results are as follows:
Eighteen players returned on Day 3 of the $3,000 Limit Hold'em event. In the chiplead was Shawn Keller with 510,000, but the field was strong here as well, with Sorel Mizzi, Jeff Shulman and Victor Ramdin also playing, among others. The nine-handed final table was as seen below.
2009 November Nine member Shulman was shortstack when he went all-in with A 2 and Casey McCarrel called with J 8 . The J 8 4 5 K board gave the latter two pairs and so Shulman was the first at the rail. Next were Ron Burke, McCarrel, Mitch Schock, Matt Sterling and Keller; finally, Bonkowski and Demes played the heads-up after the elimination of Andrew Brongo.
The two were nearly 1:1 on stacks (1,510,000 in front of Bonkowski against Demes’ 1,490,000), but Demes was quick to get a couple of huge pots, amassing 2,750,000 versus Bonkowski’s 250,000. The latter, however, showing off an amazing comeback, gained the lead by Level 27 (20,000/40,000). In the last hand, players pushed their stacks in on the 6 5 5 T board:
Bonkowski: K T
Demes: K Q
River: 8
Tyler Bonkowski
Once again, two pairs were worth a WSOP bracelet. Below you can check out the final results.
