Mark Schmid won WSOP Event #34 $1,000 NLHE, taking home $488,283. Event #35 $5,000 PLO 6-max victory went to poker pro Jason Mercier, who got his second PLO WSOP bracelet after the one from 2009.
Ten out of the 27 players who remained to play on Day 3 of the $1,000 NLHE Event (WSOP #34) were seated together before the 9-handed final table play began with the elimination of Steven Davisson at Level 25 (5,000/15,000/30,000):

First out was Jeremy Kottler and then Michael Souza and $1,500 NLHE Shootout event 2nd finisher Robbie ‘RobbieV’ Verspui were railed. Eventually, Justin Cohen played heads-up with Schmid, following Andrew Rudnik finishing in 3rd place and the elimination of Benjamin Volpe, Trevor Vanderveen and Jonathan Clancy before him.

Cohen gained a 3:1 lead in the first hand, but Schmid doubled up soon and in the last hand he already had the majority of the chips. It occurred at Level 30 (10,000/50,000/100,000); Schmid limped, Cohen checked preflop and they also checked the {#}K {#}T {#}7 flop. On the {#}7 turn, Cohen checked once again but Schmid bet $250,000 and Cohen called. It was Schmid again to bet 450,000 on the {#}A river, Cohen shoved and Schmid called.
