The ISPT official website says that by December, 2011 an agreement will be reached with an online poker room that should host the online qualifiers, likely from January, 2012 on. Although the site does not specify the room, it would be surprising if it was not Full Tilt Poker on the organisers’ minds, provided a deal is made with the US DoJ.
20 to 30 thousand players are to qualify for the live event, held in the Wembley Stadium on 5 consecutive days, somewhere between 15th August, 2012 and 9th October, 2012. Once the English national soccer team calendar is published this November, a final date will be released, although the preferred period is the first half of September, 2012.
The 30,000 players will be playing simultaneously, although not in the pitch but on the stands, playing via pads applied to the seats. When they hit the 3,000 mark, which is also the bubble, the remaining players move down to the field to take their live seats. The final table will be 10-handed and the game will be on for $17.5 million, out of which $10 million is for the winner.
The ISPT, as envisioned by Bernard Tapie and French TV producer Prosper Masquelier, was registered in 2010 in France and its tournaments take place annually in one of the world’s most renowned stadiums. Currently, the series is in partnership with the Wembley, Orange and IMG.
