They shuffled up and dealt on Level 25 (5,000/30,000/60,000) and it was Trevor Pope to be eliminated first a level later. He went all-in preflop with 1.46 million in chips and got called by Philippe Ktorza.
Trevor Pope: A 3
Philippe Ktorza: J J
Board: Q 5 2 J 8
Following Pope, Steve O'Dwyer and Nick Schulman were also eliminated, before they played it down to the heads-up. It was Rettenmaier who sent Michael Mizrachi to the rail, calling his all-in on a pair of 3s with AT and developing to a full house on the board.
The relatively long HU play brought about shifts in the chiplead, with Ktorza having an edge of about 8 million on multiple occasions but Rettenmaier managed to come back and entered the final hand on Level 33 (50,000/200,000/400,000) with his initial chiplead of 2 million. They shoved preflop:
Philippe Ktorza: J J
Marvin Rettenmaier: K K
Board: A 9 3 T A
Marvin Rettenmaier
Rettenmaier won the WPT X World Championship for $1,196,858 and the trophy.
