WSOP 2013 - Event #7 - Matt Waxman Wins, Eric Baldwin Runner-Up

10 players returned to the tables on Tuesday for the WSOP Event #7 Final Table. Only one player had to be eliminated for the real final table to take place.

Dealing started on the 22nd blind level (2,000-8,000/16,000), with Scott Yelton as the bubble boy: He went all-in with {#}J {#}T against Jess Dioquino's pocket sixes, and was ultimately defeated on the dry board.

The next player to leave the table came to be this year's PCA NLHE 6-Max 3rd placer Jason Koon. Koon was extreme shortstack; he went all-in with 59,000 from MP (23rd blind level, 3,000-10,000/20,000), last year's WSOP $1,500 NLHE champion Brent Hanks 3bet to 100,000, the cutoff Amit Makhija 3bet to 200,000, Hanks went all-in, Makhija called.

Hanks' stack grew to 870,000, Makhija dropped o 745,000 Koon finished 9th.

The next to leave came to be Tuu Ho, Robert Dreyfuss, Jacob Jung and Hanks. In the latter hand the WSOP $1,500 NLHE champion (of 2009) Eric Baldwin went all-in from the small blind, Hanks called with 290,000 chips. Baldwin showed a pair of threes, Hanks a pair of eights, but a 3 fell on the board.

A bit later, the WPT Paris champion Matt Waxman opened to 60,000 (5,000-15,000/30,000), Makhija called from the big blind. The flop was 4s 5c 8h. Makhija checked, Waxman bet to 50,000, Makhija raised all-in, Waxman called.

Makhija finished 4th.

The heads-up formulated with the elimination of Dioquino, whose was defeated by Baldwin.

An 8-hour heads-up battle followed. Both players took considerable chiplead several times, the players doubled up on each other quite often. The game ended on the 32nd blind level after 187 heads-up hands. Baldwin pushed all his 1,025,000 chips in from short stack, Waxman snapcalled
