The 2025 WSOP $250,000 Super High Roller was already filled with drama when David Peters delivered one of the most memorable hands of the event—executing a fearless bluff that finally quieted Martin Kabrhel on the money bubble.
As we reported in our recap of the final table, Seth Davies went on to win the tournament for $4.75 million and his first WSOP bracelet. But before that could happen, the direct bubble delivered a hand that has already made waves across the poker world.
Peters Shuts Down the Table Talk
According to PokerNews live updates, the pivotal hand took place with 11 players left—only 10 spots paid. Kabrhel opened from the hijack with T♥8♥, and received calls from Daniel Negreanu on the button (A♦J♦) and David Peters in the big blind (A♠J♣).
On a flop of 8♠8♦J♠, Kabrhel bet into two opponents and kept up his trademark table talk, declaring “Bubble!” toward Negreanu. After Negreanu called, Peters check-raised. Kabrhel then three-bet to over 1.4 million. Negreanu got out of the way, and Peters called.
The turn brought the 3♠, and both players checked. On the 9♣ river, Peters checked again. Kabrhel tanked before firing 2 million—but Peters came over the top with an all-in check-raise that stunned even the PokerGO commentary booth.
The Czech pro, known for relentless chatter, fell completely silent. After a long pause, he folded his trip eights. “Nice hand, David,” he admitted, as nearby players and fans erupted in admiration for what many called one of the ballsiest bluffs ever seen on the bubble of a $250K event.
Praise from Pros, and a Silent Czech Joker
The reaction was swift. Poker Twitter lit up with commentary, including from seasoned pros. Adam Levy noted:
“Never did I ever expect Peters would rip turning top pair into a bluff with the nut spade blocker on the stone bubble of the $250K against one of the only other players that can bust him.”
Even Matt Blagg described it as “one of the sickest bluffs I’ve seen in a while.”
While Kabrhel folded, the hand didn’t knock him out. He recovered, made the final table, and eventually exited in 7th place for $674,359—leaving behind another chaotic WSOP performance full of jokes, arguments, and unfiltered theatrics.
The $250K Super High Roller is now in the books, with Seth Davies crowned champion, but Peters’ bluff on the bubble is already being hailed as one of the signature moments of the 2025 WSOP.
