WPT Global has introduced its most ambitious online tournament festival to date with the launch of the WPT Asia Series, a month-long event featuring ¥100 million (approximately $15 million) in total guarantees. The series, which began in mid-February and runs through March 15, represents a major milestone for the operator and reflects its continued emphasis on Asian markets, where most of its player traffic originates.
While the branding and scheduling are clearly aligned with Asian time zones and preferences, the festival remains open to all eligible players globally.
Extensive Schedule with Over 100 Tournaments
The WPT Asia Series includes a comprehensive lineup of more than 100 tournaments spread across four weeks. Buy-ins range from entry-level amounts designed for recreational players to higher-stakes events offering significantly larger prize pools.
The structure gradually increases in scale, with both guarantees and buy-ins rising as the series progresses. Early events offer affordable access points, while later tournaments feature more substantial prize pools and higher entry fees.
All buy-ins and guarantees are displayed in Chinese Yuan, reinforcing the operator’s focus on its largest regional audience.
WPT Rings and Championship Events Highlight the Festival
A central feature of the series is the opportunity to win official WPT rings. Nine Ring Events are scheduled, including a set of weekly Sunday championships. These events offer some of the largest guarantees of the series and serve as its primary highlights.
The final Ring Championship features a ¥3 million prize pool guarantee (around $430,000), making it one of the most significant individual tournaments in the festival.
In addition to Ring Events, the schedule includes weekly Mystery Bounty tournaments and phased Main Events, offering players multiple formats and competitive opportunities.
Leaderboard Competition Adds Extra Incentives
Alongside individual tournaments, WPT Global has introduced a Player of the Series leaderboard with ¥3 million in total prizes. The overall winner will receive ¥1 million, rewarding players who perform consistently across multiple events.
The leaderboard system includes bonus points for early registration, encouraging players to plan ahead and participate actively throughout the festival.
Asia Remains Central to WPT Global’s Strategy
The launch of the WPT Asia Series highlights the importance of Asia within WPT Global’s long-term strategy. The operator has increasingly tailored its offerings to this region, including daily tournaments and dedicated festival schedules.
At the same time, WPT Global has been expanding internationally, strengthening its presence in markets such as Canada and Ireland while building partnerships with major live poker tours.
Series Runs Through Mid-March
The WPT Asia Series will continue until March 15, offering players several weeks of tournament action and the chance to compete for major prize pools and official WPT titles.
With its record guarantees and extensive schedule, the festival represents a significant step forward in WPT Global’s online tournament offering and underlines the platform’s continued growth in the global poker market.
