While bounty formats continue to dominate online poker schedules, the iPoker network has taken a different direction in 2026. Instead of leaning into Progressive Knockouts and Mystery Bounty events, the Playtech-powered network has launched a tournament series built entirely around traditional, non-bounty poker.

The iPoker Vanilla Championship Season began on February 6 and will run until May 3, 2026, offering a total of €5 million in guaranteed prize pools across its schedule.

As of March 9, the season is already well underway, and according to iPoker, the concept has received a particularly positive response from players.

A Return to Classic Tournament Formats

One of the defining features of the Vanilla Championship Season is its complete absence of bounty mechanics.

In recent years, Progressive Knockout (PKO) and Mystery Bounty tournaments have become increasingly dominant across online poker platforms. Many operators now structure large parts of their tournament schedules around these formats.

iPoker, however, has deliberately positioned the Vanilla Championship Season as a counterbalance to that trend.

The vast majority of tournaments in the schedule feature classic No-Limit Hold’em. Only two events deviate from this structure, both of which will be Pot-Limit Omaha tournaments.

According to the network, the idea behind the series was driven by renewed interest in traditional NLHE tournaments throughout 2025, prompting the creation of a series specifically designed around that format.

A Season Instead of a Short Festival

Unlike most online poker series, the Vanilla Championship is not structured as a short, high-intensity festival. Instead, it runs as a nearly three-month season, offering players a more spread-out schedule.

The weekday structure is intentionally different from typical tournament festivals:

  • Usually one featured tournament per day
  • Fewer overlapping events
  • Multiple tournaments running simultaneously on Sundays

In total, the schedule includes 131 tournaments.

These consist of:

  • 123 single-flight events
  • 8 multi-flight tournaments, with Day 1 flights running throughout the week

Buy-ins range from €10 to €1,000, with most tournaments priced below €200, making the series accessible to a wide range of players.

Faster Structures and Shorter Late Registration

iPoker has also adjusted tournament structures to ensure events do not run excessively late into the night.

The series features:

  • Shorter late registration periods
  • Reduced decision times

Longer late registration remains available only in a small number of flagship events.

These changes are intended to create faster-paced tournaments with more manageable finishing times for players.

Large Sunday Guarantees

Every Sunday during the series features a headline event with at least €75,000 guaranteed.

Some weekends offer significantly larger guarantees, including:

  • €100,000
  • €200,000
  • €500,000

Across the full schedule, 18 tournaments feature six-figure guaranteed prize pools.

The Highlight of the Season: Vanilla Cup

The biggest tournament of the entire series will be the Vanilla Cup, scheduled for May 3, the final day of the season.

Key details of the event include:

  • Buy-in: €250
  • Guarantee: €500,000
  • Format: Single-flight
  • Late registration: 24 hours

Interestingly, the same day will also mark the start of iPoker’s next major online festival, the Spring Series, which will offer €10 million in guaranteed prize money.

Omaha Events on the Final Day

Although the Vanilla Championship Season focuses almost entirely on Hold’em, two Pot-Limit Omaha tournaments have also been included in the schedule.

Both events will take place on the final day of the series, adding some variety for players who prefer Omaha.

Missions and Tournament Tickets

As with many major iPoker promotions, the Vanilla Championship Season also includes mission-based promotions.

By completing specific challenges, players can earn tournament tickets for events within the series.

This system allows players to qualify for tournaments without paying the full buy-in.

Strong Early Feedback From Players

According to iPoker, player feedback on the new format has been extremely positive.

The network reported that the response to the “Vanilla” concept has exceeded expectations, and the team is already exploring ways to expand the idea in future promotions.

If the current momentum continues, the format could play an even larger role in iPoker’s tournament strategy by 2027.

March Is One of the Busiest Months in Online Poker

The Vanilla Championship Season is running alongside several other major online poker festivals.

Among the biggest currently taking place are:

  • WSOP Super Circuit Online (GGPoker) – $180 million guaranteed
  • SCOOP (PokerStars) – $45 million guaranteed
  • WPT Asia Series (WPT Global) – $15 million guaranteed
  • MILLIONS Online (PartyPoker) – $4 million guaranteed

In this highly competitive environment, iPoker is attempting to stand out with a concept built entirely around classic, bounty-free tournaments — and so far, the strategy appears to be working.
