WPT Global has added a new feature to its platform, allowing players to transfer funds directly to one another. With this update, the operator joins other major poker sites that have long provided this functionality.
Access and Requirements
Direct transfers between accounts are a common practice in online poker. They make it easier for players to:
- send money to friends,
- lend or borrow funds,
- settle side bets or other private agreements.
Why Players Use P2P Transfers
Direct transfers between accounts are a common practice in online poker. They make it easier for players to:
- send money to friends,
- lend or borrow funds,
- settle side bets or other private agreements.
Industry Context
While widely used, P2P transactions come with regulatory challenges. Some operators—such as PartyPoker, which removed the feature in 2020—have taken a stricter approach, and in several regulated markets the option is not available at all due to anti–money laundering rules. Even where it is permitted, transfers usually must remain within the poker ecosystem and cannot be cashed out immediately.
What It Means for WPT Global
The introduction of player-to-player transfers strengthens WPT Global’s offering and brings it closer in line with platforms like GGPoker, PokerStars, and 888poker, which already provide the same service. For players, it means greater flexibility in managing balances and supporting each other at the tables.
