Jack Ury
Jack Ury played in the WSOP Main Event for the first time in 2007. He returned each time in the past three years, consequently breaking his own record of being the oldest man ever to play. On all four occasions, he made it to Day 2, although failed to make it in the money. His persistence motivated many and every time he sat down to play, he was always welcome and treated with respect.
His most notable appearance in the WSOP was televised by ESPN in 2009, when he played a hand with Stephen Friedlander. We shall not spoil this for you; if you have not seen it before, you can watch the memorable moment here.
Military graveside honors will be rendered at his burial in Roselawn Memorial Park, Terre Haute, Indiana.
