The Gift That Gives on Giving: GGPoker’s Winter Giveaway Series

It’s the end of the year, and the festive atmosphere is in full swing. GGPoker joins that atmosphere and enriches it with their second iteration of the popular Winter Giveaway Series (WGS). This holiday-themed tournament festival is back with bigger rewards than its debut season, becoming the gift that keeps on giving to poker players.

The WGS started on December 15th and will run for almost a month, ending on January 13th, 2025. However, what can players expect from this festival?

This tournament boasts 980 events, with a total guarantee of $100 million. The buy-ins range between $5 to $1,500, making it ideal for casual players and high rollers alike. Most of the tournament schedule follows the existing tournament schedule. 

You’ll find festive event names like Holiday Heater, Winter Tick Tock, Sunday Snowstorm, Sunday Merry Monster Stack, and Bounty Snowball. However, that’s not all. This year offers four significant events in the schedule to watch out for.

Ontario players will find a special series during the same period, with a C$5 million guaranteed prize pool and a $250,000 add-on. Add-ons are the boost GGPoker applies to each event this year.

There are four multi-flight events you should take the time to check out and participate in if you can. These tournaments all offer between $1 million and $3 million guarantees, with add-ons between $50,000 and $150,000. We check out what you should know about these events:

• December 16th: Winter is Coming 6-Max Opener - $50 buy-in, $1 million GTD and $50k add-on
• December 23rd: Santa’s Sled Bounty Tournament - $25 buy-in, $2 million GTD, and $100k add-on
• January 6th: Happy New Year - $11 buy-in, $1 million GTD, and $50k buy-in

January 13th: Winter Giveaway Grand Finale - $250 buy-in, $3 million GTD, and $150k add-on

There are many differences between the 2024 edition and its previous iteration. First, while last year’s events had 10% boosted guarantees, this year’s events have a 5% boost on top of that amount. 

As such, each event has an add-on prize of 5%, which totals an additional $5 million in guarantees. Further, last year’s guarantee of $50 million is doubled this year to $100 million. The previous year’s buy-ins also started at $11, which is much higher compared to the $5 minimum buy-in this year.

Further, this year boasts far more tournaments than last year and an average guarantee of $100,000. The Managing Director of GGPoker, Sarne Lightman, states that they’re “always looking for ways to make the poker experience more thrilling and rewarding…”
