The iPoker network announced last November that they would be introducing a new rake system to replace the average contributed one in the first half of 2012. According to those news, the system would have been similar to "Essence", started by Ongame last year, in which weaker players receive a greater return after their rake generation, compared to better players. These news were then confirmed by an iPoker VIP Manager on 2+2, along with some details about the system plans.
The Essence system did not receive a very warm welcome, mainly because it was disadvantageous for the multitable players whose income mainly consisted of rakeback and bonuses. Although iPoker emphasized that their system would have a smaller impact on these players, it still caused discomfort among the users.
Because of this, iPoker has decided to introduce the weighted contributed rake calculation method, in use since 5th March. This means that from now on, players of the network will receive points according to their actual contribution to the pot.
iPoker has also renewed its software lately, with the main aim of the new functions being to make the network more interactive, and to give the iPoker users a community experience.
