Red Spade returns in December
In 2011 PokerStars rolled out their seemingly crazy event in the form of a $55 buy-in $1 million GTD tournament. The event, called Red Spade Open, was a big hit attracting tens of thousands of players in hopes of winning live changing money.
The $1 million guaranteed prize pool is certainly not the biggest in the history of the site. But considering the relatively small buy-in of $55 and the chance to win the - 3636 times bigger - guaranteed first prize of $200,000, the tournament is surely one of a kind.
PokerStars added even more value to the event before, as there were bounties on the head of every Team Pro and Team Online member. The value of a bounty was $100 in 2011 but the site quickly raised it to $250 in 2015 and then to $500 in 2015. Whether there will be bounties this time is yet to be seen.
Bust him for instant cash
Since its 2011 start last year was the first one without the Red Spade Open tournament. Why PokerStars decided to skip the event is unknown, although it's safe to say that it had a lot to do with generally decreasing online poker traffic.
The site didn't share any information of this year's event but it can be seen on the schedule of PokerStars High Roller series, which serves as an alternative confirmation of its existance.
