PokerStars is a leading brand in the poker industry, offering game-related innovation. One such offering is PokerStar VR. With cutting-edge technology and stunning graphics, PokerStars offers an entirely new season of its VR experience. Now, they’ve expanded to the Metaverse poker tour, which we explore further below.
What Is PokerStars VR?
VR stands for virtual reality, and PokerStars created an online poker room in the Metaverse. As long as you have the correct equipment and a PokerStars account, you can play at poker tables in this immersive experience.
The technology used to design the space delivers visuals so crisp you can enjoy a poker game almost exactly like you would in real life. You can read your opponent’s body language and interact with the environment, props, and accessories available in this virtual space. You can try out the VR poker rooms if you have an Oculus Rift or HTC Vive.
The Metaverse Tour
Due to the incredible popularity of the PokerStars VR experience, it wasn’t long before their first Metaverse poker tour was announced. Released in 2019, thousands of players from all corners of the world participated.
The tournament typically lasts three days, and in 2019, participant Schoen2001 won the tournament, winning an exclusive digital ring his VR avatar can wear, as well as banking a bumper prize.
Details of Season 2
Season 2 of the PokerStars VR Metaverse tour dropped on the 24th of November, with Stop 1 taking place in a Macau 2050 setting. This Asian gambling mecca is reimagined with fantasy-like elements, providing a fun and new environment for its participants.
For the Tournament’s Stop 1, which lasts from the 24th to the 27th of November, you’ll find an abundance of swag, primarily split into the two camps of High-roller and Standard.
The swag bag given to participants contains a gold lotus flower all-in button, special edition card backs, and a glorious MPT S2 Macau baseball cap. For high-rollers, they get a limited edition of the swag bag, containing an impressive Entrance/Exit effect for when they join or leave the poker table. It also contains a limited edition gold badge.
How to Watch PokerStars VR
Stop 1 of this tournament is being streamed on the Twitch channel “getluckyvr”, so pop in to see who’s coming out on top this year, with the MPT Ultra High Roller event streaming on the 27th of November at 5 pm ET. The prize for the winners is a premium ’Player of the Season’ digital pendant, along with other rewards.
However, even if you can’t make it to the first stop, fear not! There are five planned stops in this poker tournament, so keep an eye on when more details regarding these are released.
