WPN’s Online Super Series Announces $40 Million in Prizes
The Winning Poker Network (WPN) is one of the industry leaders among networks that serve the US market. Like many other networks, WPN greets May with an exceptional tournament, the brand’s iconic Online Super Series (OSS), and it’s bigger than ever.
OSS Details
The OSS started on the 7th of May and will run until the 28th of May. The series buy-ins have micro, low, medium, and high categories, with the lowest buy-in being $2.50 and the highest at $5,200. There are 258 numbered events players can join, many with multiple tiers. These tiers mean this series’s total number of events is closer to 500.
It offers a massive $40 million in guaranteed prize money, which makes it the third largest tournament held in May, right behind GGPoker’s exceptional World Festival of $200 million and PokerStars’ Championship of Online Poker of $75 million.
Schedule
Most of the events in this series are No-Limit Hold ’em games; quite a few Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) and PLO8 games are also available. Other formats you’ll find are NLO8 and 7 Card Stud. Some of the most significant events besides the main ones are the Sunday High Roller, with a guarantee of $1 million and a $630 buy-in.
Another is the $300,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Event, the biggest Omaha tournament in the series and WPN’s biggest Omaha tournament ever. There’s also a Main with a $1.5 million guaranteed prize pool and a $2,650 buy-in.
Main Event
Three main events guarantee a total of $5 million altogether and have multiple Day 1 starting flights for these multi-flight events. The main events are structured as No-Limit Hold ’em events, with a $3 million Main with a $5,200 buy-in. The other Mains are a $1.5 million event with a $1,050 buy-in and a $600k Main with a $109 buy-in.
Growth of the WPN
Major poker skins are part of this network, the most well-known being America’s Cardroom, followed by Black Chip Poker, True Poker, and the PokerKing room. The OSS XL is coming just after the ultra-successful Venom PKO edition, where there were 2,866 players with a prize pool of over $7 million.
WPN now offers multi-million dollar tournaments and even weekly events, guaranteeing up to $1 million in prize money. The brand is attempting to reach new heights, as proved by its attempt to host a $50 million Progressive Knockout Series, However, due to overlays, that was shelved. Still, it’s making strides, especially with Chris Moneymaker and Chris Moorman as ambassadors.
