GGPoker’s 2023 WSOP Main Event Greets 744 Participants
The WSOP Main Event is almost here, and GGPoker has announced that 744 participants qualified for this iconic event. This prestigious event is set to break records left and right. The Road to WSOP promotion is ongoing, but 744 players have already qualified from GGPoker, WSOP’s exclusive satellite partner.
2023 WSOP
The biggest WSOP tournament is a No-Limit Hold’em Championship, known as the Main Event, and runs from the 3rd to the 17th of July. GGPoker has promised at least 600 seats to this event, with 500 from its international qualifiers and 100 from its ClubGG.net subscription site. However, this brand exceeded expectations, resulting in 744 participants.
Road to Vegas Promotion
The Road to Vegas promotion doubled the qualifying participants compared to 2022’s final tournament, already locking in a prize pool of $7.7 million. While there might still be more participants, thanks to other qualifiers and the Road to WSOP promotion, this is already a record-breaking number.
Breakdown of the Qualifiers
Of the 774 qualifiers, 634 won their seat using the GGPoker’s dot-com satellites. GGPoker’s separate Ontario room delivered another 39 qualifiers. Around 101 players qualified through GGPoker’s subscription sweepstakes site, ClubGG, which resulted in 174 more participants than GGPoker guaranteed in February.
The GGPoker Package
GGPoker offered a $ 12,000 value package for this Las Vegas tournament. It includes a seat to the Main Event, $1,000 in travel expenses, seven nights’ accommodation at Horseshoe Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, access to the Platinum Lounge of GGPoker, and various merchandise and gifts of this poker brand.
However, that’s not all. GGPoker also announced that if a GGPoker-package holder goes on to win the Main Event, GGPoker will award them $1 million on top of their tournament winnings. This prize is after the brand experienced this success last year when Espen Jorstad managed to win the final tournament after qualifying using a $1,050 GGPoker satellite.
Breaking Records
The World Series of Poker has been around since 1971, and the most participants happened in 2006 when 8,773 players took to the tables. However, the 2023 edition might set a new record, as participation has already seen an increase of up to 15% in many events.
GGPoker is also doing its part in this spike, as in 2021 the brand supplied 250 participants; in 2022, it supplied 312 participants before reaching a record of 744 qualifiers this year. So far, the WSOP has generated around $150 million in prize money, and various affiliates, like Seat Sprint, are still giving away seats to the Main Event. Seat Sprint is giving away 112 seats to US players, with the promotion ending on the 2nd of July.
