WPT Global Launches Innovative Take on SNG Games with Progressive Jackpots: Global Spins
WPT Global introduced a new Sit and Go Lottery-style format to revamp this decade-old game format. It took inspiration from the concept created by the now-closed MPN poker room and added its own twist. Global Spins debuted last month on November 23, and we decided it’s time to have a look at what this game offers to players.
Global Spins
Global Spins follows the standard three-handed with fast-paced gameplay and a winner-takes-all format. The format features six buy-in levels, starting at $1, and going up to $5, $10, $25, $50, and $250. That means the games fit every type of player, from casual ones to high rollers.
Three players join a table to start the game, and a wheel will spin to determine the prize that ranges from 2x to 6,000x the buy-in. All games have a combined effective rake of 7%, and added to that is the jackpot contribution of 1%. Blinds will increase every three hands, a mechanic that picks up the game’s pace and delivers around a five-minute gameplay.
The winner will take all on the first five multipliers of 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x, and 25x. However, payouts on the 120x, 240x, and 6,000x multipliers are divided 80%-10%-10%. On the 6,000x multiplier, it means the winner gets 5,000x, while second and third place gets 500x each.
New Progressive Jackpot Feature
What makes this game style so different is that a new progressive jackpot element keeps growing until players hit the highest multiplier. The game mechanic adds 1% of every buy-in to the jackpot, and it can infinitely increase if you hit the 6,000x multiplier. Each buy-in level has a jackpot, and players can easily see the current jackpot amount on each level’s game icon.
Starting Stacks
As with the standard format, the game multiplier determines the starting stack, which ranges from 400 to 1,000. There are 10 blind levels, which start at 10/20 and increase every six hands. As with all of these games, the lower multipliers trigger the most frequently, with the 2x multiplier having a 49.5% probability of activating. Meanwhile, the highest multiplier of 6,000x will only appear twice every one million games.
Similar Games
This format was inspired by MPN’s Fish Party, released in 2016. However, the site has since become defunct. Still, we can understand why this format resurfaced, as WPT Global’s general manager, Alex Scott, used to be the Head of Poker at MPN when Fish Party was launched.
The games closest to this format are iPoker’s Age of Gods SNG games, which all feature a Mystery Jackpot. However, it’s not entirely the same, so WPT Global is still one of the only rooms to offer progressive jackpots in its SNG games.
