KKPoker has introduced a new cash game feature: EV Chop. This option gives players the chance to cash out part of the pot during an all-in, based on their current win probability (equity) – before the hand concludes. The feature is available in NLHE, PLO, PLO5, FLASH, 6+ Hold’em, and Bombpot games, under specific conditions.
What is EV Chop?
EV Chop is a cash game tool that becomes available during an all-in if:
- the pot has reached at least 20 big blinds (BB),
- the river card has not yet been dealt,
- and at least two players have different equity values.
In such cases, a player can choose to take a guaranteed payout based on their current equity, ending their participation in the hand. This “early cash out” helps reduce variance but means giving up the chance to win the full pot and paying a platform fee.
EV Chop is only available during the preflop, flop, or turn stages – not after the river.
Which Games Support EV Chop?
EV Chop is available only in cash games. It is not supported in tournaments (MTT) or Sit & Gos (SNG).
Eligible formats:
- No-Limit Hold’em (NLHE)
- Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO, PLO5)
- FLASH
- 6+ Hold’em
- Bombpot
Note: EV Chop is not available in double board games.
How is EV Chop Calculated? What Is the Cost?
The payout is calculated using the following formula:
Cashout = (Pot – Fee) × Equity – EV Chop Fee
The EV Chop fee is a 2% commission charged by the platform, calculated as:
EV Chop Fee = (Pot – Fee) × Equity × 0.02
This means the player pays 2% of the withdrawn amount as a service fee. If multiple pots are in play (e.g., side pots), calculations are done separately for each.
When Does EV Chop Become Available?
The feature is only offered if all five of the following conditions are met:
- The table supports the EV Chop feature.
- The current betting round is preflop, flop, or turn.
- The main or side pot is at least 20 BB.
- All non-involved players have already folded.
- Remaining players have different equities.
Additionally, to receive an EV Chop offer, the player must:
- still be competing for at least one pot of 20 BB or more,
- have an equity that is neither 0% nor 100%,
- be eligible to receive at least $0.01 in cashout.
EV Chop vs. Run It Multiple Times
EV Chop and Run It Multiple Times (RIMT) cannot be used simultaneously. If even one player selects EV Chop, RIMT will be disabled for that hand.
- If a player chooses EV Chop, the others continue playing, but RIMT is disabled.
- If no one chooses EV Chop, and the table allows it, RIMT may be triggered.
Who Should Use EV Chop?
EV Chop is primarily designed to reduce variance. It’s particularly useful for:
- Recreational players
- Players with limited volume
- Those with tight bankrolls or a strong focus on risk control
For regulars who play tens of thousands of hands monthly, variance tends to even out over time, and paying the EV Chop fee can result in -EV decisions. For them, the feature is usually only relevant in edge cases, such as especially large pots, bankroll sensitivity, or promo-specific goals.
