After 18 years as an independent poker site catering to players in the UK and Ireland, Sky Poker officially migrated to the iPoker network on May 27. The move marks the end of its proprietary software, the closure of its long-standing community forum, and the departure of its decade-long ambassador, Neil Channing.
While the transition was mostly smooth, a few technical hiccups occurred on launch day — including broken links on promotional pages and temporary issues with the web-based client — but these were resolved promptly.
Sky Poker now becomes the third iPoker skin under Flutter Entertainment, joining Paddy Power Poker and Betfair. The move came as a surprise to many, as previous plans suggested integration with PokerStars, also owned by Flutter. However, as reported by PokerIndustryPRO, the decision to join a competing network may have been driven by cost-effectiveness and existing internal experience with the iPoker platform.
The revamped Sky Poker client features a “Sky Exclusive” section, offering cash games and tournaments available only to Sky Bet players, with all games played in GBP. While long-time users were initially skeptical, the modernized software and exclusive offerings have generally received a positive response.
Although this transition closes a chapter in the platform’s history, it represents a clear technical and functional upgrade. The site now supports native mobile apps, a desktop client, and a browser-based instant play version.
To mark the occasion, Sky Poker has launched a £100,000 freeroll series running from May 27 through June 23. Players can participate in a £3,000 freeroll every evening during this period. The promotion culminates with two grand finale tournaments: a £6,000 freeroll on Saturday, June 28, and a £10,000 event on Sunday, June 29.
While some loyal players may miss the old platform’s unique charm, the migration offers access to a broader player pool, stronger infrastructure, and exclusive events — signaling a new chapter for Sky Poker in the global online poker landscape.
