Playtech, the powerhouse behind the iPoker network, has quietly introduced a completely redesigned poker desktop client — the most significant overhaul since 2015. According to Poker Industry Pro, the refreshed software is already live on selected skins, including RedStar Poker and Champion Poker, with full implementation across the network expected by the end of summer.
In the French market, operators like PMU and FDJ are also among the first to adopt the new client, marking a strong push toward modernization across iPoker’s regulated and international markets.
A Cleaner, Smarter Lobby Experience
The biggest visual change comes in the form of a completely restructured lobby. Moving away from the dated top-tab layout, the new design adopts a left-hand navigation menu — offering easier access to sections like Cash Games, Twister, Tournaments, Sit & Gos, and personalized areas like Missions, Poker Profile, and Leaderboards.
This streamlined interface not only brings iPoker in line with contemporary design standards (similar to 888poker’s layout) but also focuses on clarity, efficiency, and ease of use — particularly for newer players. Each game category now includes collapsible dropdowns, allowing users to drill down quickly into the formats they prefer.
Upon launching the software, players are greeted with a simplified homepage featuring shortcuts to frequently played formats, making onboarding smoother and navigation faster.
Player-Friendly Improvements
While the game tables themselves remain unchanged — pending separate future updates — the lobby is packed with long-requested features:
- Resizable Windows & Full-Screen Mode: A long-awaited addition now gives users control over the client’s layout.
- In-Lobby Player Notes Management: Players can add, edit, and export notes directly from the settings menu without opening tables.
- Enhanced Filters: Searching for specific games or formats is now faster and more precise.
The tournament lobbies have also been refined with better spacing, cleaner information display, and intuitive categorization — all part of Playtech’s push for a more seamless experience.
“We’ve invested significantly to create a platform that delivers an exceptional experience across all player segments,” said Irina Mavrova, Lead Poker Product Manager at Playtech. “The new client combines modern design with flexible navigation, making it easier for players to engage — and for operators to deliver.”
Promotions, Rewards & Future Features
Alongside the UI improvements, Playtech has revamped its Promotions, Rewards, and Loyalty pages to enhance engagement and player retention. This update also lays the foundation for future releases, including:
- An upgraded Player HUD
- Throwables and customizable avatars
- Exportable transaction history
- Additional gameplay enhancements
These features are expected to be rolled out in phases, giving operators time to tailor the experience to their audiences.
A Decade in the Making
The last time iPoker saw a full redesign was back in 2015, which introduced a more modern aesthetic and a tile-based favorite system. Over the years, Playtech has continued to introduce smaller innovations — from equity displays and Rabbit Hunt to the Poker Bingo mechanic and All-In Cashout — but the core interface remained largely untouched.
That changes now.
“This is a monumental development for us,” said Michael Bedulskis, Tournament and Promotions Manager at Playtech. “It’s the most important item on our recent roadmap, and it reflects our long-term commitment to poker.”
As Playtech moves forward with the phased rollout, the upgraded client signals a renewed focus on delivering a high-quality, user-centered experience across its global poker network. By modernizing both the visuals and the functionality, iPoker aims to stay competitive in an evolving online poker landscape — with tools designed to support both recreational players and serious grinders.
