GGPoker has kicked off a major new marketing initiative in the United Kingdom and Ireland, featuring well-known comedian Johnny Vegas as the face of its latest TV and outdoor ad campaign.
The campaign, titled “Face-Off,” brings humor and personality to the poker table — a refreshing contrast to the usual serious tone seen in gambling advertisements. In the ads, Vegas brings his trademark wit to poker scenarios, poking fun at the clichés of old-school poker: smoky backrooms, stone-faced players, and exaggerated tension.
One of the most notable spots features Vegas squaring off against a rival player who also happens to be called “John Vegas” — a tongue-in-cheek nod to GGPoker’s real-name policy at higher-stakes tables. Another video, Johnny’s Poker School, takes aim at typical poker tutorials, with Vegas humorously advising players to “always play a seven and a two — because it shows character.” The ad ends with the tagline: “Don’t listen to rubbish. See some sense at GGPoker.”
£2,000 Face-Off Freerolls for New Players
To accompany the media campaign, GGPoker has launched an exclusive Face-Off Freeroll promotion for new players in the UK and Ireland.
- Eligibility: New sign-ups between October 1 and November 30 who deposit at least $10.
- Schedule: Weekday freerolls at 8 PM (UK time).
- Prize Pool: Each freeroll offers £2,000 in “Cash Dollars” — funds that can be used at GGPoker tables but not withdrawn directly.
- Rewards: The top 20% of finishers win prizes, while the rest receive another freeroll ticket, effectively keeping everyone in the game.
In addition to the freerolls, new players also qualify for GGPoker’s 100% Welcome Bonus up to $600, along with ongoing promotions like Honeymoon for Newcomers and other monthly giveaways.
A Bold Move into Mainstream British Comedy
Johnny Vegas — a household name through shows such as Benidorm and Still Open All Hours — represents GGPoker’s first major step outside the world of professional poker for a campaign of this scale. His presence brings mass-market recognition and a comedic spin that fits GGPoker’s message of making poker more fun and approachable.
While other operators such as PokerStars have a history of working with global stars like Neymar Jr, Usain Bolt, and Kevin Hart, GGPoker’s collaboration with Johnny Vegas marks its own push toward blending poker with British humor and entertainment.
The Face-Off Freerolls and ad campaign run until November 30, with all promotional details available on GGPoker.co.uk under the tagline: “Are you ready to face off?”
