GGPoker has expanded its software offering with the launch of Escrow Trade, a new feature that allows players to buy and sell poker-related assets directly through the poker client.
The system creates an official marketplace where users can trade tournament tickets, Cash Dollars and other eligible promotional currencies, with GGPoker acting as a neutral intermediary throughout the process. Depending on local regulations, transactions can be settled using either traditional payment methods or cryptocurrencies.
Bringing Player Trades Into the Client
For years, poker players have relied on forums, social media groups and private messaging channels to arrange the sale of tournament entries, staking shares and other poker assets. While these transactions are common within the poker community, they have traditionally involved a degree of trust between the parties involved.
GGPoker's new marketplace aims to reduce those risks by moving the entire process inside the poker client. Instead of transferring assets immediately, the platform temporarily holds the item being sold until the transaction has been completed and both sides have fulfilled their obligations.
According to GGPoker, the service is available at no additional cost.
How Escrow Trade Works
Players can access the feature through the Cashier section of the software, where they can either browse existing listings or create their own offers.
Once a buyer finds an offer, the two parties can discuss the details through a dedicated trade chat. After agreeing on the terms, the seller initiates the escrow process and selects a payment deadline, which can range from 30 minutes to 24 hours.
The buyer must then send the agreed payment and mark the transaction as completed before the deadline expires. If this does not happen, the system automatically cancels the trade.
After the payment is marked as sent, the seller verifies that the funds have been received. If everything is in order, the escrowed asset is released to the buyer. If there is a problem, the seller can request a cancellation or the buyer can open a dispute, which is reviewed through GGPoker's internal process.
The platform records the final outcome of every trade, indicating whether it was completed successfully, cancelled, expired or resolved through a dispute.
Public Listings and Crypto Support
While player-to-player transfers have existed on some poker sites for years, GGPoker's approach differs in several ways.
The new system includes a public marketplace where offers can be listed and discovered directly inside the software. It also supports a broader range of assets than traditional player transfers, including tournament tickets and promotional currencies.
Another notable addition is support for cryptocurrency payments, reflecting CoinPoker's growing influence on the online poker ecosystem and the increasing popularity of digital assets among poker players.
Availability Depends on Local Regulations
GGPoker noted that Escrow Trade is only available in jurisdictions where player-to-player transfers are permitted under local regulations.
As a result, some markets are excluded from the rollout. The United Kingdom, for example, does not currently allow such transfers, meaning players located there cannot access the feature.
Transaction limits are also tied to each player's account status, including KYC verification levels and existing transfer restrictions.
Another Addition to GGPoker's Feature-Rich Software
The launch of Escrow Trade continues GGPoker's strategy of differentiating itself through software innovation.
Over the years, the operator has introduced a number of features that are uncommon or unavailable on most competing platforms. These include integrated staking, PokerCraft tracking tools, final-table side betting, various social features and a wide range of gamification elements.
By adding a built-in escrow marketplace, GGPoker is extending its software beyond traditional gameplay and addressing an activity that many players were already conducting through unofficial channels.
Whether Escrow Trade becomes widely adopted remains to be seen, but it represents another attempt by GGPoker to bring more poker-related activities into a secure, centralized environment.
