As we reported in April, WSOP has made up a great concept for an event: they intend to recreate some of the most interesing heads-up battles of WSOP history. The event is scheduled for June 2, and will feature 3 notable matches: the 2003 Chris Moneymaker vs Sammy Farha, the 1989 Phil Hellmuth vs Johnny Chan and the 1988 Johnny Chan vs Erik Seidel matches.
The third match was up to a vote, people could choose from the following couples at WSOP's facebook page until May 25:
Johnny Chan vs. Erik Seidel
Greg Raymer vs. David Williams
Jamie Gold vs. Paul Wasicka
Jonathan Duhamel vs. John Racener
Not too suprisingly, the Johnny Chan vs. Erik Seidel match got the majority, 44% of the votes, followed by the Greg Raymer vs David Williams, 39%. The choice is obvious, the clash of Chan and Seidel is a classic in poker history, and gained significant popularity after John Dahl's movie, Rounders. Chan defended his title, which only Doyle Brunson and Stu Ungar was capable of doing so far.
Chan vs. Seidel, final hand:
Chan is also very active nowadays, however, he participates in less tournaments than he did before. He finished 3rd in the Tournament of Champions, where he defeated Daniel Negreanu and Barry Greenstein for example. In 2011, he hasn't yet scored in any big tournament, but his appearance in Season 7 of High Stakes Poker earned him a nice amount of cash.
