Sheppard Wins First Multi Prize Pool Tournament, Romanello Finishes Second

<a href="http://www.rakerace.com/news/poker-tournaments/multi-prize-pool-tournaments-debut-in-january/"><strong>As we reported in January</strong></a>, Roberto Romanello's brainchild, the Multi Prize Pool tournament finally took off. The event was held at Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham and ended with the victory of Brian Sheppard, beating Romanello.

As the name suggests, the MPP tournament provided 3 separate prize pools for players. Entrants could choose from 3 buy-in levels, and they will participate in the same tournament with equal amount of chips, the only difference being the amount of money they can win.

Multi Prize Pool Poker

The first MPP tournament was organized at the Dusk Till Dawn cardroom with £25+£6 (1st buy-in), £50+£8 (2nd buy-in) and £100+£10 (3rd buy-in) buy-in levels.

177 players participated, generating a "Prizepool 1" (P1) of £4,425, a "Prizepool 2" (P2) of £2,775, and a "Prizepool 3" (P3) of £3,200.

On the 8-handed final table was lead by P3 players including Tim Wright, Brian Sheppard, Paul Grummitt and the developer of the formula, Roberto Romanello. Only Philip Davis came from the P2 level, the P1 entrants were Tabassam Nadeem, Wayne Catchpole and Wayne Hopkin.

The heads-up was played by Sheppard and Romanello, and it ended with the victory of Sheppard, who took down all the first prizes, and the MPP champion title as well.

The tournament was a major success among the players, therefore the organizers already announced that the event will be held at the Dusk Till Dawn every week from now on. Additionally, a £50/£100/£200 buy-in, £30,000 guaranteed tournament will also be held on 26 January.
