The greatest attention, however, was undoubtedly paid to the high stakes finale, the Event #43-H $10,300 NLHE Main Event. A total of 580 players entered the contest, including many of the best professionals of day, which resulted in an accordingly strong finale. Chipleader was Noah ‘Exclusive’ Boeken and he was accompanied by the likes of Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom, Ravi ‘govshark2’ Raghavan, Mike ‘munchenHB’ Telker and Sergio ‘zcedrick’ Aido.
Play started on Level 30 (2,000/8,000/16,000) and the first elimination took place soon enough: ‘munchenHB’ opened to 32,000 in chips, ‘Amadi_017’ from the BB shoved with 363,205 and ‘munchenHB’ called instantly to show pocket jacks. ‘Amadi_017’ played with A-K and the board came neutral.
‘LeshkaGmBlZ’, ‘w4ldo’ and ‘govshark2’ came next: the latter opened all-in with 172,207 and got called by ‘Isildur1’ alone. ‘Govshark2’ showed Q-9 against Blom’s A-Q and the A-8-6 flop did not help him, nor did the 4 for the turn and he drew dead.
A couple of hands later, Boeken min-raised to 60,000 from UTG (blinds: 15,000/30,000), ‘Isildur1’ called from CO and ‘zcedrick’ shoved with 505,263 from the Button. Boeken folded and Blom called.
Zcedrick: A K
Isildur1: 9 9
Board: 2 7 Q T 6
‘Isildur1’ won the flip and ‘zcedrick’ finished 5th.
Out in 4th place was ‘munchenHB’, who went all-in on the Q-4-T flop with Q-9. Boeken had Q-J and eliminated his opponent with a better kicker. ‘MunchenHB’ happens to have finished 4th in last year’s WCOOP Main Event as well.
The heads-up was set with the elimination of ‘cmontopdeck’:
Surprisingly making no deal in the finale, ‘Isildur1’ won $1,096,200, in addition to his third SCOOP title.
The end results are as follows:
1st: Isildur1 (United Kingdom) – $1,096,200
2nd: Exclusive (Netherlands) – $803,300
3rd: cmontopdeck (United Kingdom) – $591,600
4th: munchenHB (Cyprus) – $446,600
5th: zcedrick (Portugal) – $313,200
6th: govshark2 (Canada) – $246,500
7th: w4ldo (Germany) – $188,500
8th: leshkaGmBlZ (Russia) – $130,500
9th: Amadi_017 (United Kingdom) – $88,740
