Of the 20 players, who were seated at the tables on Day 3 of WSOP 2013 Event #8 $2,500 8-Game Mix, the following were eliminated to give way for the eight-handed final table: Christopher Vitch, Mike Kim, Christopher Wolfe, Septimu Popescu, Darryl Herrick, Josh Arieh, Robert Mizrachi, Benjamin Pollak, Chris Reslock, Randy Ohel and Chris Tryba.

The unofficial final table seat draw was as follows:

Seat 1: Dario Alioto – 230,000
Seat 2: Michael Malm – 525,000
Seat 3: Steven Wolansky – 715,000
Seat 4: Eric Crain – 490,000
Seat 5: Michael Hurey - 295,000
Seat 6: Travis Pearson – 130,000
Seat 7: Marco Johnson – 90,000
Seat 8: Mike Wattel – 73,000
Seat 9: Greg Mueller – 325,000

With the elimination of WSOP 2011 $2,500 10 Game/6-Handed 3rd finisher Travis Pearson, the official finale was set. He went pre-flop all-in in a NLHE hand with pocket tens and ran into Eric Crain’s A-K on a board that improved the latter’s hand to a straight.

With three heads-ups behind his back, Marco Johnson was eager to grab a bracelet this year but the cards did not favour him: in a NLHE hand, he shoved with A-K and 74,500 in chips, Mueller called and showed A-Q to get his queen on the flop.

Next out was Mike Wattel, followed by WSOPE 2007 £5,000 PLO winner Alioto, who was eliminated by Crain’s straight in an Omaha-8 hand. Michael Hurey shoved as shortstack with A-7 in a LHE hand and met Steven Wolansky’s pocket aces and the latter railed Crain as well, after a long 4-handed play and in another LHE hand. The heads-up was set with the elimination of Mueller.

Steven Wolansky – 1,900,000
Michael Malm – 1,000,000

Malm managed to come back first but Wolansky regained the lead by winning an enormous pot, enough to give him a ten times edge over Malm. The latter refused to give up, though, and crawled back to play the final hand in a major lead. In PLO, Wolansky raised to 90,000, Malm pot bet, Wolansky went all-in and Malm called.

Malm: {#}A {#}T {#}T {#}9
Wolansky: {#}K {#}Q {#}T {#}9

Board: {#}6 {#}4 {#}Q {#}K {#}2

Malm won with a flush.
