The World Series of Poker (WSOP) Europe 2024 returns this year with much excitement. However, it's in September, not in October as it had been. This year’s event promises to bring new heights to the iconic tournament as it reverts to its original timetable. We discuss the timetable, venue, format, and highlights below. We also take a peek into its history and previous events.
2024 WSOP Europe
The World Series of Poker Europe 2024 edition will run from September 18th to October 9th. The Main Event will take place between October 4th and 9th. The venue will be King’s Resort, as it has been since 2017.
Format
There will be 15 bracelet events, as they have since 2019. Further, the tournaments and guarantees mirror the 2023 edition. The guarantees exceed €15 million, and most games are No-Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha events.
Events
The €5 million Main Event once again has a €10,350 buy-in. The organisers expect its first flight to see over 400 qualifiers this year, starting on October 4th. Another popular event is the €1,350 buy-in Mini Main Event, which reduced its guarantee from €2 million to €1.5 million. It starts on September 22nd, but you should also look out for the following events:
- September 18th - €1 million NLH Opener with €350 buy-in
- September 25th - €1.5 million NLH Colossus with €550 buy-in
- September 30th - €1.5 million GGMillion$ with €25,000 buy-in
- October 3rd - €1 million Diamond Highroller with €50,000 buy-in
- October 6th - €150k NLH Turbo Freezeout with €1,000 buy-in
History of WSOP Europe
This European poker tournament started in September 2007 and has grown in fame. It was the first expansion of a US-branded event up until that point. The venue has moved across several countries. It started in London and later moved to Cannes, Enghien-les-Bains, and Berlin.
However, for the last six editions, its home has been well-established as King’s Resort in Rozvadov, Czech Republic. This is the longest the European WSOP event has stayed in one location.
2023 Iteration
The 2023 edition shows us what to expect for the 2024 event. The 2023 Main Event drew 817 participants, a record-breaking number for this event. This record-breaking attendance generated a prize pool of €7.7 million.
Of the 817 participants, almost 400 were qualified through King's Resort. The Casino has an extensive satellite tournaments and live events qualification system. Hundreds more participated thanks to GGPoker’s online qualifiers and ClubGG app. This year, GGPoker will again run its online qualifiers and promotions across its platform and ClubGG app.
