With the rise of online qualifiers, live poker tours have become even more popular. The surge in popularity is partly due to recreational players being able to compete against seasoned players on equal playing fields. Online qualifiers tend to be monopolised for famous tours. However, Unibet and Partypoker stepped in to shine some light on unsung tours.
Explore These Unsung Live Poker Tours
There are many poker tours available to players that aren’t necessarily big names like WSOP. We look at two of them that are starting to receive more attention thanks to Unibet and partypoker.
London Poker Festival
This tournament is still young, as this will only be the second iteration of the London Poker Festival (LPF). It debuted in January with an experienced team behind it. The team organising this event also ran the Irish Poker Festival, the Irish Poker Tour (and its London edition), and the Bratislava Poker Festival.
As with its debut, it’ll be held at Aspers Casino in London in early September. The tour’s £100,000 Mystery Bounty event attracted 252 participants and grew its prize pool to £110,000. Meanwhile, the Main Event, worth £500,000, attracted 822 entrants
The Festival
This tour debuted in 2021 and soon became a favourite of recreational players. Not only does it offer poker tables, but it also combines its poker events with blackjack, roulette, and sports betting events. The tour has been to multiple locations, such as Malta, Nottingham, Bratislava, Tallinn, and Rozvadov.
The 2024 tour will have three stops, one of which is already over. In June, it had a stop in Rozvadov. Still on the horizon are the Malta stop in September and the Bratislava stop in November. Due to its extensive history, it has previously partnered with multiple brands like 888poker and iPoker network skins.
The Online Qualifiers
These two poker rooms take the step to make lesser-known tours like the above more accessible to players. They run extensive online qualifiers, which we explore below.
Unibet
Unibet has offers for both events. It features sub-qualifiers along with the direct qualifiers, and entry fees are set at €250. The online qualifiers are available on its site, offering the following packages:
- LPF: €1,800 Package (includes £700 Main Event entry, Hilton Hotel accommodation, and travel expense)
- The Festival: €1,500 Package (includes €550 Main Event entry for either Malta or Bratislava stops, €230 travel expenses, merchandise, and five nights at a hotel)
Partypoker
This brand uses phased satellites and feeders, while its direct qualifiers start at €109. Partypoker offers similar packages to Unibet, though its deals are valued at:
- LPF: €1,700 Package (Main Event ticket, accommodation, and travel expenses)
- The Festival: €1,600 Package (Main Event ticket only eligible for the Malta stop, accommodation, and travel expenses)
What to Look Out For
Online qualifiers are increasingly popular. Rooms like GGPoker are famous for sending thousands to WSOP events. PokerStars has also introduced its unique Power Path promotion to open qualifiers for events like NAPT to all players.
Players interested in joining the qualifiers can participate through our exclusive rake chase. RakeRace.com offers up to 5% rakeback at Unibet for players who link their accounts.
