Hungarian poker professional Gergo "Argentin_GOd" Nagy secured the biggest victory of his career on March 11 by winning the Triton Poker Jeju 2025 $50,000 Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) event. This marks Nagy's first-ever Triton trophy, along with an impressive first-place prize of $1.36 million.
RakeRace.com works closely with Hungarian high-stakes regulars, including Nagy himself, who also plays in certain poker rooms through exclusive RakeRace.com rakeback deals.
Previously, Nagy's largest cash was $431,100, earned as the runner-up at the Super High Roller Bowl Cyprus 2024 $50,000 PLO event, where he finished second to Finnish pro Joni Jouhkimainen. At Jeju, Nagy faced Jouhkimainen once again in the heads-up match, this time securing the victory. "It felt great to get revenge," Gergo commented after his triumph.
Final Table Action
Six-time WSOP bracelet winner Jeremy Ausmus was the first to exit the six-handed final table, eliminated by Xu Liang. Dutch pro Tom Vogelsang followed shortly after, committing his remaining chips with A♥Q♥Q♣2♦ but fell victim to Jouhkimainen's A♠J♠J♥9♥, which improved to two pair (A-9).
Xu Liang was the next to depart after his K♣10♥5♥4♣ lost to Gruffudd Pugh Jones' K♥K♦Q♦2♦, which improved to a full house (Q-2). Jones himself later lost most of his chips during three-handed play and was eliminated when his K-K-X-X failed to overcome Jouhkimainen's flush.
Heads-up Duel
The heads-up match started with Jouhkimainen holding a significant 3:1 chip advantage, but Nagy swiftly turned the tables by doubling up with pocket aces. In the decisive final hand, Nagy limped from the button with A♠A♦Q♠9♣. Jouhkimainen raised from the big blind holding K♠Q♥10♠6♦, prompting Nagy to re-raise, which Jouhkimainen called.
The flop came K♣10♦3♠, leading both players to put all their chips in the middle. Jouhkimainen initially led with two pair, but Nagy had numerous outs. The 9♠ on the turn provided both players with flush draws, Nagy's being superior. The river was the 3♣, securing Nagy's win with two pair, aces and threes.
Gergo Nagy achieved his career-best result at one of the world's most prestigious PLO events.
