Valentin Lita Wins Inaugural WSOP Circuit Virginia Main Event for $181,853

Valentin Lita has made history at Caesars Virginia, becoming the first player to win a WSOP Circuit Main Event in the state. The Virginia resident topped a field of 665 entries in the $1,700 Main Event to claim his first WSOP Circuit ring and a career-best $181,853 payday.

The inaugural WSOPC Virginia Main Event proved a major success at the new Danville stop. Its $500,000 guarantee was comfortably surpassed, with the tournament ultimately generating a $1,007,475 prize pool.

Marshall White entered the final stage of the tournament with the chip lead and eventually finished runner-up for $121,214, while Donald Pritt completed the podium with a third-place finish worth $83,103.

The first WSOP Circuit Main Event held at Caesars Virginia attracted 665 entries at a $1,700 buy-in.

That turnout pushed the prize pool beyond the seven-figure mark. The final $1,007,475 pot exceeded the advertised $500,000 guarantee by $507,475, while 102 players finished in the money.

Lita ultimately secured the largest share and added a significant milestone to a poker career spanning almost two decades.

The victory was particularly fitting for the inaugural Virginia stop. Originally from Romania, Lita moved to the United States 23 years ago and currently lives in Ashburn, Virginia.

Away from poker, he owns a small construction company. However, he has devoted more time to the game in recent years, and the Main Event title follows a particularly productive period at the tables.

Lita did not begin the decisive day in control of the tournament.

Marshall White returned with a substantial chip lead, while Lita occupied a position around the middle of the remaining field. The situation changed rapidly once seven-handed play resumed.

Four players remained within roughly half an hour, with Lita climbing through the chip counts as the final table accelerated.

White remained his principal obstacle, but Lita eventually erased the start-of-day deficit and defeated him heads-up to secure the championship.

The victory continued an impressive run for Lita, who had already reached three other final tables during the previous two months.

He also highlighted the support he received during the tournament, particularly from his wife. Friends from the Maryland and Washington, D.C. poker community were following his progress, while members of the Romanian community also contacted him as he moved closer to the title.

The $181,853 first prize represents Lita's largest recorded tournament cash, taking his career earnings to more than $620,000.

It also brought him his first WSOP Circuit ring.

Lita's victory came with another valuable reward: a $5,000 package for WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas in December.

Despite achieving the biggest result of his career, Lita indicated after the tournament that he does not intend to make dramatic plans based on one victory. Instead, he plans to continue approaching poker one step at a time while seeing how far his recent momentum can take him.
