CoinPoker to Launch Heads-Up Cash Game World Championship with Rolex Prizes

CoinPoker has announced a new high-stakes competition aimed at heads-up specialists: the Heads-Up Cash Game World Championship (CGWC). The event will run from April 6 to May 3, 2026, bringing together invited players to compete in a structured series of heads-up matches in both No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha.

The championship is designed for experienced cash-game players, with action beginning at $50/$100 stakes and featuring a unique format that blends traditional heads-up play with a tournament-style structure.

Matches will be played on special HU VIP tables accessible through a dedicated CGWC tab in the CoinPoker lobby. The tables are configured with a set of rules intended to create dynamic and transparent heads-up battles:

• Minimum buy-in: 100 big blinds
• Mandatory auto-rebuy during matches
• No rake and no antes
• Winning hand always revealed
• Limps are not allowed

The championship will run as two parallel competitions — one for NLHE and one for PLO. In the Omaha event, players will also have the option to play PLO5 or PLO6, expanding the strategic possibilities.

Participants can customize certain match parameters, including starting times, stake levels (with the possibility to increase them), and the number of tables used for the match. By default, matches are played on at least two tables simultaneously.

Participation in the CGWC will be limited. CoinPoker will determine how many seats are available and which players receive invitations.

The competition is divided into three phases:

• Group Stage: April 6–19
• Semifinals: April 20–26
• Grand Final: April 27–May 3

The final match will consist of a 2,000-hand heads-up battle.

At the start of the event, participants will be randomly placed into groups of equal size, with each player selecting a unique avatar.

Competitors will face every opponent in their group, playing between 1,250 and 1,875 hands per matchup. The exact number of hands will be confirmed before the stage begins.

The group structure depends on the total number of entrants:

• 8 players: 2 groups of 4 — top 2 advance
• 12 players: 4 groups of 3 — group winners advance
• 16 players: 4 groups of 4 — group winners advance

Players accumulate points based on match results:

• Win: 50 points
• EV performance: up to 150 additional points (10 EV big blinds equals 1 point)

If two players tie for first place in a group, they will play a playoff match, with the winner being the first to reach a 100 big-blind profit based on actual results.

If a participant fails to complete a match, the scoring system adjusts to ensure fairness: all players receive points equivalent to a win against that competitor, while EV results are distributed proportionally among opponents.

After the group stage, the player with the highest point total gets to choose their semifinal opponent.

Each semifinal match lasts 2,000 hands, and the winners advance to the championship match. Depending on the number of participants, an additional 1,000-hand match may be played to determine third or fourth place.

The prize pool for the Heads-Up Cash Game World Championship will consist of:

• $10,000 buy-ins from each participant
• A 50% contribution added by CoinPoker

The final prize distribution and the number of paid positions will depend on the number of players who enter.

In addition to the cash prizes, the champions of both formats — NLHE and PLO — will receive a Rolex watch valued at approximately $35,000, supplied by CoinPoker.

With its mix of heads-up cash-game strategy, EV-based scoring and premium prizes, the CGWC aims to create a high-profile competition for some of the strongest heads-up players in the online poker world.
